Can Michigan afford any more federal aid?!

Do we need more state bureaucrats?  Do we need more state bureaucrats to increase federal control of our state?

State Representative Dudley Spade (D-57) is preparing legislation to hire more taxpayer-financed workers, under a new "Office of Federal Grants and Procurement," whose job it would be to strengthen Michigan’s dependency on the federal government!

We have seen for years that the federal government uses federal funds to blackmail states into adopting liberty-depriving legislation.

Just look at what the feds do with our gas tax money... if we don’t cater to every desire from Washington DC—what our drinking age should be, mandated motorcycle helmets, cameras on the highways or even mandatory safety belt laws—the federal government blackmails us into compliance with our own money!

To make this even worse, Michigan is a "donor state."  We get back less than we put in!

Why would anyone want more federal "help?"  Can we even afford it?

Mr. Spade is asking other members of the Michigan House to cosponsor legislation that is designed to increase Michigan's dependency on these federal dollars with all the strings and red tape that comes with it.

In his own words, he states that this agency will "find ways for the federal government to 'Buy Michigan' whenever possible."

I am sure that everyone agrees, when the federal government buys a state, nothing good will come if it.

Please join with us in calling our representatives and urging them to not cosponsor this piece of legislation or support it in any way!

I agree!  It's an outrage that our legislature is contemplating making our state more dependent on federal aid!  Michigan needs less taxes and spending—not more hand-outs from Washington DC, paid for by our tax dollars and controlled by the feds.
